INCOMPLETE OR CANCELLED SIGNINGS
If loan documents have been printed and/or travel to the appointment has begun, and the signing cannot be completed — including when a signer declines to proceed — applicable printing and travel fees remain due. These fees will be disclosed before the appointment.
WHAT TO HAVE READY
A little preparation can help your appointment go smoothly. Before we meet, please have:
(1) VALID GOVERNMENT-ISSUED ID
Have your current identification ready. Identification requirements can vary depending on the circumstances, so if you have questions about whether your ID will be acceptable, contact me before the appointment.
(2) SIGNING DOCUMENTS
Have the complete document or document package available, including all pages. If you received instructions from the person or organization requesting the notarization, please have those available as well.
(3) EVERYONE WHO NEEDS TO SIGN
Each person whose signature will be notarized must personally appear before the notary. Please make sure all required signers are available at the scheduled time.
(4) WITNESSES, IF REQUIRED
Some documents require witnesses in addition to notarization. If witnesses are required, please determine who will provide them before the appointment. If you're unsure whether witnesses are required, check with the person or organization that provided the document.
(5) WAIT TO SIGN IF YOU'RE UNSURE
Some notarial acts require the document to be signed in the notary's presence, while others do not. If you're unsure, leave the document unsigned until we meet.
(6) QUESTIONS FOR THE DOCUMENT RECIPIENT
A notary cannot select the type of notarization you need or give legal advice. If the document doesn't tell you what type of notarization is required, please contact the person or organization receiving the document for instructions.
